So what is the Lake of the Ozarks Shootout?

The Lake of the Ozarks Shootout is the largest unsanctioned boat race in the United States. Official speeds on the new Captain Ron's course have hit 208 mph in each of the last two years.
Last year's Top Gun winner "My Way" had to scratch this year's event due to an earlier accident. There is so much more to the Shootout besides racing such as: treasure hunt, golf tournament, concerts, street party,  PWC dam run, mini shootout (a remote controled boat race) and more!!
It is exciting to see boats fly down the mile long course, but the most rewarding part is to see the checks going out to local fire departments and charities.

It's weekend time again!!!!!!!

Last weekend was great, our son, my sister, nephew and niece were here at the lake. We got to meet members of Sara's family, which was great. They stayed at the Fort Leonard Wood Recreation Area here on the lake, which is really nice. On the down side our A/C died over the weekend. They got it fixed on Thursday and I really appreciate the work these heating and air conditioning guys do.

Okay now on to this weekends events.
First off lets get the weather forecast out of the way. I could just basically say, yes it is still hot and staying that way. Friday 101 and slight chance of rain, Saturday 104 and yep slight chance of rain. Now for Sunday don't get too excited but 94, yes I said 94, and 30% chance of rain.

Events at the lake this weekend include:

20th Annual Hillbilly BBQ Cook-off
August 3-4th
Laurie Fairgrounds in Laurie, MO
Good food and fun!!

4th Annual Bagnell Dam Duck Drop
August 4th
Dam Bait Shop below Bagnell Dam
A day filled with family fun activities. The day begins with the 5K run and Waddle Walk at 8am.
The family fun zone is open 10am - 3pm. Duck race is at noon with  money raised going to
the Kiwanis Club.

It is also Missouri's tax free weekend for back to school items such as: school supplies, clothes and computers.

Hope you all have a great weekend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
