Memorial Day Weekend is here!

Wow, it is hard to believe that the Memorial Day weekend is here.

So, what is Memorial Day?

Memorial Day is a United States federal holiday which occurs every year on the final Monday of May. Memorial Day is a day of remembering the men and women who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces. Formerly known as Decoration Day, it originated after the American Civil War to commemorate the Union and Confederate soldiers who died in the Civil War. By the 20th century Memorial Day had been extended to honor all Americans who have died while in the military service. It typically marks the start of the summer vacation season, while Labor Day marks its end.


So what is the weather forecast here at the Lake of the Ozarks this weekend?

Today Thurdsay May 23rd it is partly cloudy with highs in the upper 60's and a low tonight in the upper 40's.

Friday May 24th is suppose to be sunny with highs in the the low 70's and a low in the mid 50's.

Saturday May 25th there is suppose to be a 40% chance of scattered T-Storms with a high in the upper 70's and a low in the low 60's.

Sunday May 26th there is a 50% chance of scattered T-Storms with a high in the upper 70's and a low in the lower 60's.

What's going on at the lake this weekend??

It appears that maybe the warmer weather is here to stay. This coming weekend is looking good with highs in the 80's and lows in the 60's, with partly cloudy skies and only slight chances for rain.

I have listed a couple of weekend events below so check them out and head to the lake!!

Lake of the Ozarks Blues and BBQ Weekend:
When: May 17th  5pm - 11pm, May 18th 6am - 5pm
Where: Bagnell Dam Blvd  Lake Ozark, MO

Judging will take place Saturday afternoon where over $10,000 will be awarded
to the first five places in seven categories.




Oma and Noma Heritage Festival
When: May 18th  9am - 5pm

Celebrating the first crossing of Bagnell Dam by Oma and Noma DeGraffenreid in 1931.
People will be dressed in era style clothing, so come enjoy an old fashioned festival. Included will be:
local musicians, craft artisans, country dancing, Little Mr/Miss Oma & Noma Days contest, historical exhibits, 5k run, vintage car show, checker tournament, frog jumping contest, food and much more.

St Patrick's Day Weekend Activities at the Lake of the Ozarks

Let me start with a weather report for the weekend.

Today Friday March 15 we are sunny and looking for a high around 80 (yes I said 80).

Tomorrow Saturday March 16 is suppose to be cloudy and 52 ( yup 80's are gone).

St Patrick's Day Sunday March 17 is 44 and rain. Those Leprechauns were just playing tricks on us.

There are numerous St Patrick's Day events going on at the lake and here are a few:

Starts at Ozark Bar-B-Q and parade up and down the Gravois Arm.

3rd Annual St Patrick's Day Short Bus Shuffle

March 16th 4pm - midnight
Westside of the lake
12 restaurants and 3 lodging establishments are participating this year
$5 wristbands are available at participating sponsors

Polar Plunge & Strut

Grab your friends, dress up and form your Plunge team.
Participate in the 5K strut to officially start the party of the
winter. All proceeds benefit year round sports for children
and adults with mental disabilities. The Strut starts at 8:00am and
the Plunge is at 2:30pm. This is a great event for a great cause.

Weekend ahead!!!!!

So here it is Friday already. Has anyone else kind of been listening to the weather

and wondering about this storm system coming in? Wow, it has been talked about

all week long on both local and national news. Here at the lake we are, at least at

last report, only on the edge of the system. All you people up north look out it is

headed your way!!

Anyway the weather report for here at the lake is:

Friday - high of 65, low of 59 and a 20% chance of rain.

Saturday - high of 81, low of 63 and a 30% chance of rain

Sunday -  high of 73, low of 47 and 0% chance of rain

Cold front coming, but it could be worse!!!

Yes, a cold front is approaching and the weekend is going to be chilly!! As I
checked the weekend forecast I did see that northern Minnesota is getting SNOW!!
So let us be glad we will only have chilly temperatures and chances for rain.

Today (Thursday) is our last warm day for awhile, currently it is 77 degrees, but
the clouds are moving in.

Friday we have a 60% chance of rain with a high of 53 and a low of 40.

Saturday we have a 20% chance of rain with a high of 57 and a low of 35.

Sunday no rain expected with a high of 58 and a low of 38.

Just to make my point on the fact that the weather is changing, today they are closing
the swimming pools at the condo and getting them ready for winter. Oh, and they took
the speed bumps out for easier snow removal. Yes, all you northerners the pools
were still open and in use down here:))
